NHAS is recruiting incoming 9th to 11th graders to join our NHAS STEM Fellows Program.
This program began in the summer of 2023.
Opportunity – NH and VT students interested in science and technology will receive extensive academic, personal, and family support to assist in advancement towards a STEM career throughout high school including:
Receive personalized college planning including seminars and one-on-one counseling
Participate in standardized test tutoring
Work with a dedicated mentoring team, including near-peers and professional scientists and engineers, to enable each participant the best pathways to colleges and STEM careers
Attend scientific seminars from a diverse group of regional scientists
The students chosen as NHAS STEM Fellows will be part of a distinguished group will participate in research programs following the timeline:
Spring 2025 - complete a remote, asynchronous 1-week Introduction to Scientific Research session
Summer 2025 - conduct advanced physical science and engineering research during out 3 to 5 week summer Applied Scientific Research programs
Academic Year 2025-26 - involvement in authentic research either remotely or on-site at one of our participating laboratories in our After-school Program
NHAS Fellows will conduct their research at our STEM Center in Lyme NH with some remote options. We will assist all Fellows in identifying an appropriate research topic.

Students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in STEM careers (rural, low-income, female, BIPOC, LGBTQ+) are encouraged to apply.
The NHAS STEM Fellows are supported by Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teacher (ITEST) grant from the National Science Foundation. This 4-year, 1.5-million-dollar grant seeks to provide a holistic support system for high school students interested in physical science and engineering.
