3 SUMMER PROGRAMs - 2025
REGISTRATION is OPEN


Program A - APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH at NHAS

Students may choose only ONE of these 3-weeks sessions:
Session 1: June 30 -July 18, 2025 (8:30AM-4:30PM, M-F); the STEM Center will be closed July 4th with remote option
Session 2: July 28-Aug 15, 2025 (8:30AM-4:30PM, M-F)

Price per Session: $3050

For participants who need additional free lab time, the Center will be open and staffed:
Aug 18 thru Aug 22, 2025 (8:30AM-4:30PM)

Both 3-week programs are geared to those who:

  • are in grades 8 to 12

  • have a serious interest in performing authentic scientific research

  • are willing to commit at least 3 intensive weeks to performing an investigation that tests a specific hypothesis

Participants will:

  • be eligible if they are 8th graders or older by the fall of the current year

  • be eligible if they are 7th graders or older by the fall of the current year. This is by invitation only and targeted to those students who have participated in either our Summer Intro Program or our After School Program

  • develop their own project in our areas of expertise in STEM research 

  • work individually or in groups of up to 3 students 

  • work under experienced PhD faculty

  • collaborate with students experienced in performing long-term investigations

  • deliver an oral presentation of their research to a group of scientists and guests.

  • be able to earn a high school science credit in NH though the Learn Everywhere Program

  • be offered additional time later in the summer to either extend their research or work with our scientists to prepare a paper for peer-review (see dates above)

  • In some cases, publish their research.

 
 

Participants receive training in:

  • safe laboratory practices

  • ethics

  • basic scientific best practices and methods

  • advanced scientific instrumentation

  • statistical analysis

  • scientific/technical writing

  • oral presentation/communication

Rising 9th graders and older may be invited to submit an abstract and summary research paper to the NHAS for a rigorous peer-review by STEM professionals. If accepted, high school students might be eligible for presenting their research at regional, national, or international science conferences.

Program B - INTRODUCTION TO SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AT NHAS

July 21 thru July 25, 2025 (8:30AM-4:30PM)

Price: $700

One-week program geared to those who:

  • are middle and high school students 

  • want to learn how scientists ethically design and conduct authentic experiments

Participants will

  • be eligible if they are 6th graders or older by the fall of the current year

  • work in a research lab guided by professional scientists

  • learn to use scientific instruments including advanced microscopes, PCR machines, 3D printers, and spectrophotometers

  • learn how scientists ethically design and conduct experiments

  • carry out short experiments in biology, chemistry, and physics and engineering

  • work with other highly-motivated students

  • explore a wide range of scientific careers

  • give a short presentation about your experience

  • learn the skills and background to hit the ground running on your own research project in our Applied Scientific Research Program or After School Program

NSF FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Opportunity – NH and VT students interested in science and technology will receive extensive academic, personal, and family support to assist in advancement towards a STEM career throughout high school.

Important Notes:
Your enrollment into any of our programs will not be secured until payment is received in full or you agree to a payment plan.  Enrollment will be secured during the process of applying for financial aid. To receive a full refund, notice of withdrawal must be received by May 1, 2025.  Registration fees ($50) are nonrefundable.

We offer generous need-based financial aid packages. During registration, you will need to upload a copy of the first two pages of your most recent tax return with the social security numbers redacted. We will contact you regarding your financial aid package and payment options within a week. Financial aid acceptance notifications are generally made via email.


All of our Summer Programs take place in the NHAS STEM Center Building and Fanger Building located on the Crossroads Academy Campus in Lyme NH.
